What is it?
Belonging Therapy is a practical, conversation-based approach that helps people reclaim identity, meaning, and emotional safety by exploring the stories held in their possessions. It combines narrative therapy’s emphasis on meaning, family systems’ mapping of relationships, and a grounded, object-centered practice.
Why belong?
Because belonging is more than fitting in, it is knowing yourself. Belonging Therapy helps you stop searching outward for validation and start locating it inward, anchored by the things that tie you to people, places, and memory..
What does it offer?
Together, we create a Belongings Log Book, a guided journal with space for 100 items, and build a detailed genogram one belonging at a time. Each session uncovers the stories and connections hidden in what you own, weaving them into a family map that strengthens belonging now and preserves it for future generations.

Each conversation is a chance to discover meaning, connect with your story, and find belonging in the things you carry with you.
All appointments are booked online and held virtually. Sessions run for one hour each and can be scheduled individually in advance. Please note that availability rotates between Eastern U.S. and New Zealand time zones. Choose a comfortable, private place for your video call. Keep tissues nearby, some conversations may bring strong emotions, and that’s okay. Belonging Therapy begins with your belongings, your actual “stuff.” Come prepared with one or more items you’d like to discuss. Be open, vulnerable, and ready to let the stories unfold. Sometimes there may be tears; other times, laughter and relief. Belonging Therapy is for all ages and stages of life.
